Why can’t we get a Mini-Cooper with a diesel that gets 65+MPG

It’s the same reason that the SmartCar is sold in the US with a Gasoline engine instead of a diesel.

The Fiesta ECOnetic is the new “*clean diesel” Ford model,but we can’t buy this 65-mpg car in America either.

The Diesel Engine doesn’t meet emission controls.

Not many diesel engines can meet current US T2B5 emission standards.

You’ll have to wait for the EPA to reduce/relax the Tier 4 Emission Standards and then you can have this (and many other) high MPG cars in the US.

However the Mini Cooper is still one of the best bets for geeting the most mile for your buck.
